Ruijie Networks and the University of Riau Strengthen Campus Digital Transformation Through the 2026 Education Tour
Pekanbaru, August 26–28, 2026 – Ruijie Networks, in collaboration with the University of Riau (UNRI), successfully hosted the Ruijie Education Tour 2026 under the theme “The Digital Backbone of Societal Impact: How Optical Innovation Powers UNRI’s Broader Mission.” This event marked a significant milestone in the campus’s digital transformation journey, showcasing how optical innovation supports educational missions and drives broader societal impact.
The series of activities began on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, with the arrival of participants in Pekanbaru and a “Mingle Dinner” at the Grand Zuri Hotel. This warm, welcoming atmosphere provided an opportunity for networking prior to the main agenda.
The main event took place on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the University of Riau (UNRI) campus. Dr. Ir. Sofyan Husein Siregar, M.Phil., Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems, opened the forum with official remarks, followed by an executive welcome from Ruijie Networks. A highlight of the event was the keynote address by Dr. Ibnu Daqiqil Id, Head of UNRI’s ICT Unit (UPA TIK), who emphasized that “A smart campus is not merely about devices… It is a system that transforms connectivity into experiences, data into decisions, and campus services into social impact.”
In his presentation, Dr. Ibnu explained that UNRI’s scale—comprising over 36,000 students, 10 faculties, and 122 study programs—demands a digital system that is consistent, integrated, and reliable. He highlighted the “One UNRI” concept as an integrated academic journey that delivers one-stop services, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making, while supporting overall institutional performance.
Ruijie subsequently introduced the groundbreaking Simplified Optical Ethernet (SOE), which brings fiber directly into the room, simplifies network architecture, and delivers high bandwidth with operational efficiency. CWDM technology enables dedicated channels to run in parallel, increasing efficiency by up to eight times compared to PON while simultaneously reducing network complexity.
The session continued with an executive panel discussion involving the UNRI IT team and Ruijie representatives, followed by an experiential benchmarking tour to observe the technology implementation on campus. The official proceedings concluded with a group photo, a networking lunch, and a city tour of Pekanbaru. In the evening, a gala dinner at the Grand Zuri Hotel served as the highlight of the gathering, featuring an elegant and convivial atmosphere.
“The best backbone operates invisibly. Its impact is seen in every Ruijie Education Tour 2026, Universitas Riau and Ruijieenefit that reaches the community. Let us build a smart campus that is not merely connected—but trusted, intelligent, and impactful,” said Dr. Ibnu Daqiqil Id in his closing remarks.
With the success of the Ruijie Education Tour 2026, Universitas Riau and Ruijie Networks have reaffirmed their commitment to delivering technological innovations that create tangible impacts on education, while simultaneously strengthening the role of the campus as a hub for digital community development in this new era.
